{ Il Castello }

Il castello, che è senz’altro da ricollegare al"castrum" romano, durante la signoria del conte Ugone subì probabilmente una trasformazione in residenza signorile. Si sa per certo che alcuni secoli dopo, come risulta dal catasto del 1567 entro la cinta del castello possedevano una casa ben 124 famiglie e che vi era una chiesa dedicata a S. Ambrogio.
Dell’imponente costruzione rimangono oggi solide mura, nel cui perimetro sono inserite torri circolari o rettangolari, col mastio all’ingresso rivolto a nord, munito fino al secolo scorso di ponte levatoio, di cui si conservano le strutture murarie di manovra, mentre ai piedi delle mura di cinta sono visibili tuttora le fosse di difesa.


Das „Castello“ (Schloss)
Das Schloss, wessen Geschichte man ohne weiteres mit dem romanischen Castrum verbinden kann, wurde sehr wahrscheinlich von der Ehefrau des Grafen Ugone in ein ansehnliches Herrschaftshaus verwandelt. Man weiß sicher, dass einige Jahrzehnte später als Resultat der Katastrophe von 1567 innerhalb der Stadtmauern circa 124 Familien zu Hause waren. Es existierte ebenfalls eine Kirche,die dem S. Ambrogio gewidmet war. Von der imponierenden Konstruktion sind heute noch einige Mauerüberreste zu sehen. Diese lassen erahnen, dass hier einmal verschiedenstförmige Türme und auch ein majestätischer Eingang mit Zugbrücke gestanden haben. Auch die Verteidigungsgräben sind heute noch sichtbar.


The Castle
The castle, which is probably bound to the roman “castrum”, is believed to have to have been transformed into a bourgeois residence during count Ugone’s supremacy. The only thing that is sure is that, several centuries later, as per the 1567’s land registry, as many as 124 families owned a house within the castle’s walls and there was a church dedicated to St Ambrogio.
All is left today are the solid walls, within which there are circular and rectangular towers, with the entrance facing North which, up to last century had a drawbridge, the ruins of which still can be seen as well as the defense ditches.
