{ La Villa Romana - The Roman Villa }

La testimonianza artistica più famosa di Desenzano è la Villa romana (III-IV secolo d.c.), che conserva ancora i pavimenti in mosaico con scene di pesca,di caccia, allegorie e raffigurazioni geometriche. La varietà di colori dovuta a pietre diverse, smalti o paste vitree è vastissima: si parla di trenta o più tinte. Tutte le figurazioni hanno un carattere pagano. Tenendo conto che nel III e IV secolo nella Gallia Cisalpina non mancavano famiglie attaccate agli antichi culti pagani e amanti delle figurazioni della mitologia greca e romana, gli esperti pensano appunto di datare questi mosaici al III-IV-V secolo d.C. I resti della villa furono scoperti casualmente nel 1921.


Dieses Gebäude ist eines der künstlerisch anspruchsvollsten unmd gleichzeitig auch bekanntesten Desenzanos. In der Villa (3.-4. Jh.) ist ein wunderschöner Mosaikboden erhalten, welcher Szenen aus der Fischerei und Jagd darstellt sowie sich auch gleichzeitig aus geometrischen Mustern und aus Allegorien zusammensetzt. Die Vielfalt an Farben, Steinen und Emalien ist beeindruckend.
Sämtliche Bilder der Villa haben einen heidnischen Charakter. Dieser konnte sich so stark entwickeln, da währen dem 3. und 4. Jahrhundert im Raum „Gallia Cisalpina“ viele reiche Familien Anhänger der Heidenkultur sowie auch Liebhaber der griechisch romanischen Mythologie waren. Von Experten wird die Entstehung der Mosaike auf das 3. bis 5. Jh. geschätzt. Die Überreste der Villa wurden erst im Jahre 1921 durch Zufall freigelegt.


The most important artistic heritage of Desenzano is the Roman Villa (III-IV century d.C.) which still has the mosaic floors depicting fishing and hunting scenes as well as allegories and geometrical decorations. The multiplicity of its colours is due to the different stones, enamels and glass stones used; approximately 30 different shades. All the subjects are of pagan character. Bearing in mind that in the III and IV centuries in cisalpine Gallia there were many families who were still bound to pagan cults and loved Greek and Roman mythological depictions, experts date these mosaics back to the III-IV century d.C. The remains of the Villa were casually discovered in 1921.
